1998年至2002年，在首都师范大学英语语言文学系学习，主攻英语语言文学方向，1998年获优秀毕业生称号。
2002年至2005年，在首都师范大学英语教育系学习，主攻翻译方向，毕业论文Feminism in Translation获得好评。
在校期间，曾担任外语学院团支部宣传部长、中国大学生模拟联合国首都师大代表队队长、2006年上海国际足球研讨会翻译、中国旅行社及中国国际旅行社外语导游、于北京展览馆举办的多次大型展览的会务翻译、天津静海开发区北京国际贸易研讨会会务秘书及口译的工作。此外，发表了《翻译中的异化趋向》等论文，并出版了独立译作数十万字，其中包括：人民大学出版社出版的《欲去还留》、北京建筑工业出版社出版的《罗马的文艺复兴》、《西藏传统文化建筑导则》、《北京的胡同文化》。2005至2006年与法国国家建筑科学中心CSTB合作，翻译出版了Sustainable Architecture，并受到CSTB的好评。
在中央音乐学院工作期间，担任本科各个年级的教学工作，以及硕士研究生及博士研究生的英语教学工作，在学院科研部门的支持下，独立编写了音乐专业硕士研究生的专门英文教材、博士研究生的英语教材（试用阶段）、以及《影视英语》选修教材。
Sophia Gui, major in English Literature and Culture as a graduate in university and in Translation in the three-year postgraudate study, graducated from Captial Normal University of Foreign Languages in 2005. The thesis paper mainly discusses the feminism in translation studies which is a special and unique perspective aiming from the cultural aspect. With no surprise, the thesis paper has gained good comments and feedback among the tutors, participating in the thesis defense.
During the seven-year professional research in English, especially in translation, there are considerable English-related practices and programms Sophia Gui has involved in, which includes, the Model UN in China, the 2006 International Football Forum held in Shanghai, the tour guide mission for CTS and CITS, numerous international exhibitions in Beijing International Exhibition Center, Tian-jin Economic Development Zone Conference. What needs to be added is the translation works whcih can be counted up to over thrity thousand words, namely, Should I Stay or Should I Go? published by Ren-min University Press, the Rome Renaissance published by China Architecture & Building Press and Traditional Architecture in Tibet and Beijing Hutong published by CABP, etc. In the year between 2005 and 2006, Sophia worked as a translator for French CSTB , Centre Scientifique et Technique du Batiment: French Scientific Center for Building Physics, for a book on Sustainable Architecture and the translator was spoken highly of for the excellent job completed.
For the recent two years, Sophia Gui devoted herself into the teaching frontline with efforts and passion. As the teacher for both the undergraduates and the postgraduates, master and the doctor, Sophia has completed the edition work on two books, respectively the College English--Special Version for Postgraduates in CCOM and the College English--Special Version for Doctors in CCOM , and another book for a selective course, A Panaroma on Movies.
To my students:
Tomorrow is another day.
It might be hard to learn English for most of the students in CCOM and that is totally understandable. The thing is what you need to do is to satisfy themselves, but no one else.
That's what I am doing here, to help you, my students, find an easy way to achieve a satisfactory consequence.
