肖岩教授,教育部长江学者湖南大学特聘教授,美国南加州大学土木系终身教授。美国土木工程师学会(ASCE),结构工程学报(ASCE,Journal of Structural Engineering)副主编;国际组合结构协会(ASCCS)理事;美国土木工程学会(ASCE)及美国混凝土协会(ACI)联合委员会441(混凝土柱)委员,委员会335(组合结构)委员;《自然灾害学报》副主任委员;《建筑钢结构进展》杂志特约编辑。
1978年10月至1982年9月,在天津大学土建系结构工程(工业与民用建筑)专业学习,获工学士学位。1983年10月至1989年3月,在日本九州大学工学部建筑工学科学习,1986年3月、1989年3月分别获工学硕士、工学博士学位。1989年3月至1990年3月,日本东京青木建设株式会社研究所,从事设计研究。1990年3月至1992年3月,在美国加州大学圣迭哥校从事博士后研究工作。1992年3月至1994年5月,美国加州大学圣迭哥校,研究员(Research Scientist)并兼任讲师,从事研究及教学工作。1994年6月起,美国南加州大学土木系任教,现为正教授(终身教职)。2001年10月起,任教育部长江学者、湖南大学特聘教授。2005年1月起,受聘为“985工程”“现代结构与桥梁科技创新平台”首席科学家。2006年5月起,任湖南大学土木工程学院院长。
