2000－2003年在美国亚利桑那大学农学和生命科学学院西南天然产物研究与产业化中心、美国加州大学戴维斯分校化学系从事土壤微生物和沙漠植物抗肿瘤天然产物及抗肿瘤抗真菌天然产物研究的博士后课题研究。2004年到暨南大学，现为天然药物化学和生药学教研室副教授。
研究方向：
主要从事中药新产品的研制与开发；抗肿瘤、抗真菌、抗糖尿病等多方面生物活性天然产物的发现研究及从事中药资源的品质评价和开发研究。近10余年来从事天然产物及其相关领域的研究工作

近20年来从事生药学/天然药物化学等领域的研究工作,参与了生药学等领域多个国家及省部级课题(如85 国家重点科技攻关项目—常用中药材品种整理和质量研究,科技部中药材标准化研究课题)的研究, 主持实施了省,厅级课题的研究工作.在中草药化学,微生物代谢产物及海洋天然产物等研究领域都有涉及并有一定的研究成绩.先后对10余种中草药,8种海绵及一些微生物培养物进行了活性化学成分的研究,分离鉴定了150多个化合物,发现了近30个新化合物和一系列抗肿瘤、抗真菌等生物活性化合物.
